Hello! Great to have you here.

And a reminder before I start that this is Converge and you're receiving this email because you subscribed on the website. (If you've since changed your mind, you can of course unsubscribe at any time.)

With that out the way, I hope you're doing very well! Let's gloss over the fact that this is the first issue in a fair old while. The truth is I've just had a bit too much work and life going on. And putting this newsletter together (as much as I really love it) has been a bridge too far.

So, it feels all the sweeter to now have a little window of time to put together another issue gathering some interesting links and things for you. It's evolved into a bit of a music and art themed issue this one, hope you like it.

Remarkable

Sophie Smallhorn Book

Sophie Smallhorn: Works

Art Book

The brilliant Sophie Smallhorn, who featured way back in Issue 2 has a new art book out.

It gathers together lots of her wonderful abstract sculptures, prints and installations into one gorgeous casebound coffee table book. Very much on my wish list.

Art Prints

Next time you're on the hunt for some prints to adorn your walls, you could do worse than having a flick through the stuff on Good Mood.

Lots of lovely art from a really broad variety of artists.

Audio experimentation

Pluck is a little interactive music visualiser by Murat Ayfer in which you see individual strings and notes played in time to music.

Be sure to click the little musical note at the bottom right to see the range of compositions it can play to you. Oh, and it's best on a desktop computer.

Music / Video

Russell Davies has been constructing tracks entirely out of TikTok and they're very good.

It turns out that Ableton Live will let you load a video as a sound file to then create a final video that uses all the elements exactly as they're played.

Different Levels of Ping is a certified banger.

A new way to discover and share music with friends. It's really good, but needs more folks I know on there!

I've got three invites to give away for this. Just hit reply on this newsletter if you're interested.

Splice

Audio sample library

I've recently got back into making music and not long ago, discovered Splice โ€” an amazing app to help give your compositions a creative and quality boost.

The app connects you to a library of royalty free samples that you can plug into your DAW to preview alongside your own tracks in real time.
